Facebook is reportedly planning to take steps to block users who post content that glorifies violence against women, people of color, people with disabilities, people on the LGBTQ community or anyone who disagrees with the views of the group.
The company will be “bansning” users who are inciting or participating in “hate speech, violence, or harassment,” according to a report from The Hill, citing sources.
The moves will come as a result of a number of incidents in which users have posted material that includes content that is “inciting, inciting or supporting acts of violence, discrimination, or hatred against groups or individuals based on their gender, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or disability,” the report stated.
The Hill noted that the ban is likely to be implemented gradually.
Facebook has been accused of allowing content that promotes violence against LGBTQ people and people of faith.
In January, Facebook removed a page that featured images that depicted the bodies of LGBTQ people, including those of a man who was beaten to death with a baseball bat.
