The chairman of a House panel is pushing Facebook to remove an account that is promoting a Republican manhunt for a prominent conservative social network.
The Facebook page, which has been deleted, says, “We have no tolerance for terrorism and hate.
Please be safe and report suspicious activity.
Rep. David McKinley, R-Wash., chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, sent a letter Tuesday to Facebook and Twitter to explain why the page should not be allowed to exist.
The page was created last month by a Texas man who called himself “The Guy Who Went Crazy.”
The page has been widely shared on social media, including by Republican lawmakers on the committee.
McKinley’s letter asks Facebook and Google to provide details on why the site should be blocked.
He said Facebook and the company have not responded to his request for more information.
Google, which operates the popular social networking site, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
